The importance of ablution in Islam

01/02/2025

Ablution is one of the pillars of purification in Islam and is considered a fundamental condition for performing prayer. It consists of washing specific parts of the body in a sequential and organized manner, which are: the face, hands, head, and feet. In the Hadith of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him): "Allah does not accept a prayer without purification." This emphasizes the importance of ablution in completing worship correctly.

Ablution is not limited to physical cleanliness alone, but carries spiritual and religious meanings, as it is considered a means to purify the soul from minor sins that may occur throughout the day. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever performs ablution and then says: I bear witness that there is no deity but Allah alone, with no partner, to Him belongs the dominion and to Him belongs the praise, and He is capable of all things, his sins will be forgiven."

A Muslim must be confident in performing ablution completely and in the order specified in the Sunnah, and should not neglect any part of it. Additionally, ablution has many health benefits by stimulating blood circulation and maintaining skin health.
