The role of women in Islamic society

09/12/2025

Women in Islam enjoy a great status, as Allah, the Almighty, has honored them and granted them rights and responsibilities similar to men. Women during the time of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) played many prominent roles in society, from their role as mothers and homemakers to their participation in business, education, and jihad.

Islam did not limit the rights of women to certain aspects only, but equalized them with men in rights and obligations. In the family, women are considered the source of compassion and care, and they play a key role in raising children.

Islam also allowed women to participate in public life, including work and education, provided that it aligns with the values of Islamic law. It is stated in the Holy Quran: "And tell My servants to say that which is best" (Al-Isra: 53), emphasizing the importance of treating women kindly.
