Islamic education in the contemporary world

29/12/2025

Islamic education is the process of learning religious and worldly sciences that guides a Muslim towards living in a way that pleases Allah. In the modern age, Islamic education faces many challenges, such as cultural and scientific influences that may deviate from Islamic values. Nevertheless, there are also significant opportunities for developing education in accordance with Islamic law.

One of the major challenges is secularism which imposes a separation between religion and state, potentially leading to neglecting the teaching of Islamic values in educational curricula. In addition, there are Western influences that may affect young people's understanding of Islam.

Despite these challenges, there are many efforts aimed at promoting Islamic education through the introduction of educational programs that align with Sharia and keep pace with the times. Developing Islamic schools and universities that offer education integrating religious and modern sciences is an important step towards achieving comprehensive and balanced education.
