The concept of jihad in Islam

Jihad in Islam is the striving in the way of God to achieve justice, protect the religion, and defend the truth. Jihad is considered one of the noblest acts that a Muslim can perform in their life, but it must be understood in its correct context. Allah Almighty says in the Holy Quran: "And fight in the way of Allah those who fight you but do not transgress. Indeed, Allah does not like transgressors." (Al-Baqarah: 190), and this clearly shows that jihad should be within the framework of self-defense, not in aggression against others.
Jihad is not necessarily fighting with weapons, but it includes the greater jihad, which is the jihad of the self, through resisting desires and temptations that may weaken faith. Jihad in the way of Allah is also in spreading knowledge and doing good deeds to achieve justice and truth in society.
Unfortunately, jihad is sometimes misinterpreted by some individuals and groups who seek to use it for political or terrorist purposes. However, in Islam, jihad is defensive jihad and protecting the community from oppression, and it is far from attacking or assaulting innocents.
